Eating disorders are common, costly, deadly, and often invisible. Too often, people struggle quietly, and by the time they receive help, symptoms may be more severe and harder to treat. It’s a story repeated across every demographic, including college students, military members and veterans, and among rural residents with few options for care.

At the Center for the Advancement of Research on Eating Behaviors (CARE) at the KU Life Span Institute, we are working to change the narrative and expand access to care. Our team of researchers, clinicians, and students develop evidence-based screening tools and accessible interventions.

We research and test practical interventions designed to reach people sooner, including those who might not know they are at risk. Early identification and treatment can change the entire trajectory of a person’s life. It can reduce suffering, support long-term recovery, and help people stay connected to the things that matter most, like college, work, family, and relationships.

With your support, we can build tools to identify and treat eating disorders earlier and more effectively. Your support will also help us train the next generation of eating disorder researchers and clinicians.

Your gift helps CARE move faster, reach more people, and bring hope to individuals who might otherwise fall through the cracks.
