The Kansas Geological Survey is a nonregulatory research and service division of the University of Kansas. We study and provide information about the state’s geologic resources – including groundwater, energy, and critical minerals – and geologic hazards. For 2025, all proceeds raised will support our growing outreach program. Across Kansas, teachers tell us they struggle to adequately teach the Earth Sciences. Barriers include lack of hands-on activities, meaningful connections to our state, or high-quality, relevant information. Our goal is to minimize these barriers. We will provide educational resources to Kansas teachers to prepare them to teach their students about aquifers, rocks and minerals, fossils, earthquakes, and more.

Your donation will help fund key aspects of our education outreach program, including but not limited to development of teaching kits, teacher workshop programs, and travel to classrooms across the state. Other outreach programs that may benefit from these funds include Paleocamp, our free spring break camp for kids, and our annual Earth Day event, where we offer a variety of free, geology-related activities to the public.
