Stand with our graduate students. Strengthen their ability to thrive.

At the University of Kansas, graduate students are central to the discovery, teaching, and creative work that define our community. They push research forward, enrich classroom learning, and contribute to the intellectual life of the university in countless ways. Their presence brings depth, curiosity, and momentum to KU.

Yet even the most dedicated students can be shaken by a sudden and unexpected expense. A medical bill, a housing emergency, or a car repair can create significant stress for students who are working carefully to make ends meet.

Graduate Student Emergency Fund
The Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs created the Graduate Student Emergency Fund to meet these moments with care and practical support. This fund provides one-time awards of up to $500 to help graduate students navigate urgent financial challenges so they can stay enrolled, stable, and focused on their academic goals. Since its creation, the fund has supported more than 200 students who needed assistance during moments of real hardship.

Your gift, no matter the size, becomes part of that support. It helps a student stay housed, stay healthy, and stay connected to their education. It offers reassurance when someone is trying to regain their footing. And it reflects KU’s shared commitment to a community where every student has the opportunity to succeed.

Thank you for standing with our students and for helping ensure that no one at KU has to choose between an unexpected crisis and their education.
