In Academic Success, we support the intellectual engagement and pursuit of learning by all KU students throughout their undergraduate education, from orientation to graduation and beyond. As students develop their educational goals and career interests, we provide academic support and ensure an accessible learning environment through orientation and advising, academic support, career and experiential learning, technology and personal connection.

Your support today of Academic Success will have a direct impact on the success and graduation of all Jayhawks.

Support Our Out of State Orientation Travel Fund
The Center for Orientation & Transition Programs hosts a one-day orientation program to introduce students to life as a Jayhawk, campus spaces, academic resources and facilitates their first meeting with an advisor and helps them to get enrolled in classes. Often, out-of-state low-income students will delay their orientation experience until move-in to manage the high costs of traveling to Lawrence more than once. Orientation is an exciting and transformational experience – no one should miss this opportunity due to limited funds. The Out of State Orientation Travel Fund ensures all KU students have equitable access to and can participate in a summer orientation experience through travel grants designed to cover airfare, rental car and/or lodging costs.

Your gift removes financial barriers for students and allows them the opportunity to experience KU’s rich traditions, meet other students, learn about resources early to ensure success, and build their community and network on campus.

Student Navigator Intervention Program
Academic Success has piloted the use of peers to engage with students who are struggling academically in critical first-year courses and found that personal outreach via phone and text has been a successful strategy that is welcomed by students.  They express gratitude for someone caring about their success regardless of the actual situation.  This program currently serves students struggling in Math, English, Accounting and Psychology. To expand this program to more courses where students typically struggle, additional funding is required.

Annual Funding for the current suite of courses: $16,000
Additional, annual funding to add more challenging gateway courses such as Communications and Sciences: $5,000
