Nurses
profoundly influence our lives, standing at the forefront of care. Just try to
imagine a world without nurses, and you’ll quickly realize the outsized impact
nurses have across all areas of healthcare.
Nurses build deep relationships through time spent at the patient’s bedside.
They act as leaders within a care team. And they serve as their patient's biggest advocates.
By 2029, we will see a 73% increase in the number of Americans aged
65 or older compared to 2011, and as our population ages, the need
for health services will surge.
Studies show 1.2 million new registered nurses will be needed in the
next 6 years in our country.
To address this challenge, our nation’s hospitals need to find new and enhanced
ways to recruit, retain and support nurses, beginning well before their first
day of nursing school.
The University of Kansas Health System recognizes this critical need and has a
plan to lead the way to a bright and sustainable future for our nursing team
and the patients we serve.
To fully achieve our vision for the future of nursing, in the near and long
term, we need your support. We’re raising $5 million to
support and grow a pipeline of exceptional nurses and empower
them to care for our community to the fullest. Because our health depends on
them.
Our health system has the talent, the culture and the blueprint for being the
strongest nursing team in the country. We are proud to recognize nurses for
their work, and we are committed to investing in our community’s future by
supporting the nurses who lead the way in caring for us.
